63.7 GWh deployed onto roads globally in August 2023
Top three cell suppliers captured 79% of the market
In August 2023, a total of 63.7 GWh were deployed onto roads globally in all newly sold passenger EVs combined (BEVs, PHEVs and HEVs), up 15% month-over-month and 53% year-over-year, the third-highest month on record.
As per usual, CATL led the pack with 19.9 GWh deployed globally (31% share), followed by LG Energy Solution with 11.0 GWh (17% share) and BYD with 10.3 GWh (16% share) deployed mostly in its own vehicles.
Rounding off the top five were Panasonic and CALB with 7% of the market each. Collectively, the top five cell suppliers by GWh deployed captured 79% of the market in August 2023.
Adamas take:
Historically, September sees a jump in battery capacity deployment on strong quarter-end EV sales numbers thus we are extremely confident September 2023 will set a new all-time record for GWh hitting roads.
