Molycorp’s Mountain Pass mine to be sold at auction
In June 2017 Adamas Intelligence spoke with the Financial Times regarding the rise, demise, and upcoming auction of bankrupt U.S. miner Molycorp’s Mountain Pass mine.
Some key points emphasized during the discussion were:
- The Mountain Pass mineral asset is absolutely world-class in terms of size and grade.
- Had Molycorp come even close to reaching the production cost they projected from the outset, the mine would be the most profitable asset in the sector. (The company was projecting an average production cost of $2.77 per kilogram of TREO).
