Price slump and oversupply causing hard times for producers outside China

In July 2015 Adamas Intelligence was cited in an article by The Diplomat, titled China’s Strengthening Position on Rare Earths.

The article discusses “hard times” rare earth companies have endured in recent years on account of a price slump driven by oversupply and a push to find alternatives to rare earths in some products.

In regards to China’s recent changes to the resource tax imposed on domestic miners, the article references our view that the changes could improve prices of some rare earth elements by up to 20 or 30%, but that increase may come too late for some emerging non-Chinese producers.
